Benefits of Craniosacral and Acupressure.

Craniosacral

The focus of this therapy is on the reciprocal tension membrane and the wave-like, rhythmic pulse of the cerebral spinal â€‹spinal fluid that flows down and back its path all around the brain, spinal chord, and sacrum. The reciprocal tension membrane maintains the structural integrity of the bony cranium. Movement of the cranial bones and cerebral spinal fluid translates into the reciprocal tension membrane. When the head or sacrum is traumatized, the reciprocal tension membrane can become twisted and compressed and the rhythmic movement is then disorganized. This influences the central nervous system. Trauma can be of many natures, from injury, physical trauma, or emotional trauma.

Craniosacral therapy enhances the function of the autonomic nervous system, which consists of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. The body heals and repairs itself when the parasympathetic nervous system is dominant.

Using the ten step protocol, the therapist palpates, assesses, and corrects these micro-movements in the body. This therapy is done with very light touch, focusing in the areas of the sacrum, spine, and cranium. The recipient may be completely clothed.

Craniosacral is used in the treatment of migraine headaches, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma of any kind, post surgical recovery, TMJ, and other conditions. Clients often experience direct and intimate feelings of well being, peace with self, and connection to life.

Acupressure

This therapy is an important part of Asian medicine. It was developed over 5,000 years ago and is based on energetic pathways called meridians that run throughout the body with life force energy, called Qi, flowing through them. Acupressure uses finger pressure on precise points along the meridians. Holding these points improves blood flow, releases tension, relaxes muscles, and enhances and unblocks the Qi flowing through the meridians.

The Therapist palpates and assesses the points along the meridians, and holds the points chosen with gentle and direct finger pressure. The client may remain completely clothed, although restrictive or dense clothing, like denim, is not suggested.

Acupressure is used in the treatment of nausea and motion sickness, headaches, neck and back pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, chronic fatigue, mental and emotional stress, and more. Many people feel more of a connection to the natural world, and more in synch with the natural rhythm of their body.
